
Open Market Law (Ley de Mercado Abierto) in Spain
The Government of Madrid has approved the draft of the Open Market Law

It is an instrument through which Isabel Diaz Ayuso wants to remove bureaucratic and fiscal obstacles and help create a single market in Spain. The law, which will go to the Assembly for consideration in the next few months.

Objective:
to stimulate investment,
create jobs,
revitalizing the economy,
creating a single market without administrative barriers for the free movement of companies and services, so that those who legally work in any part of Spain and want to do so in Madrid do not need additional authorization and can open automatically in Madrid.

The Madrid community assures that its objective is to promote a single market throughout Spain, to the extent possible within its powers.

The Open Market Law, as explained by the Ministry of Finance, also includes the obligation to deregulate in cases where the requirements for access to activities are higher than in other autonomous communities. This measure will apply to products that are sold in the rest of Spain. They will be able to move freely in the country.

GDP growth

The government estimates that once in force, this regulation will have a positive impact on regional GDP, increasing it by about 1.6% in the medium and long term. This will generate 4.000 million euros per year and about 50.000 new jobs.

The law is a response to the demands of organizations such as the European Commission, the International Monetary Fund, the National Commission of Markets and Competition (CNMC) and the Bank of Spain, which for years have supported cooperation with international organizations, which is important in difficult times related to the effects of the pandemic.
