Residence for professional internships in Spain
Have you ever heard about a residence permit for an internship?
No? Well this is an excellent opportunity to obtain a "full-fledged" residence for students who are in Spain on the basis of estancia por estudios. No need to modify the card or apply for a residence permit to find a job
⠀
A residence permit based on an internship can be obtained if there is an agreement or contract with an employer.
Basic conditions:
- internship takes place during study or no later than 2 years after graduation;
- the card is issued for a period from 6 months to 2 years maximum.
⠀
HOW TO REQUEST A RESIDENCE FOR PRACTICE?
⠀
- Based on the Agreement (Сonvenio) signed with the employer (company or educational institution).
- Based on the Labor Contract (Сontrato en practicas). In this case, it is a full-fledged employment contract that makes you the same employee of the company as other employees.
⠀
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?
⠀
By law, the internship cannot be carried out under an employment contract.
BUT! There is an exception - if you have completed your studies within the last 2 years, on the basis of which you want to do an internship, then this is already allowed.
⠀
In other cases, a residence permit for the internship is requested on the basis of the Agreement. And the future trainee must, in addition to standard requisites, such as medical insurance, also demonstrate that he has his own financial resources sufficient to live in Spain for the duration of the practice.
⠀
WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES?
⠀
The main plus is convenience and simplicity for employers who are reluctant to sign a contract, since the procedure is quite troublesome for them and involves contacting the migration service, providing their documentation. And not everyone is ready to take a foreigner for a year and for full time at once.
The procedure is simple, performed remotely, the conditions for hiring an intern are favorable, and the student becomes the owner of a full-fledged residence.
Another advantage is that the authorization can be submitted and processed within 30 days electronically.
How do you like this alternative? Ready to consider it for yourself?
