Foreign students who come to study in Spain can opt for different accommodation options.
Major colleges
They are centers generally associated with universities that make certain services and facilities available to students: accommodation, dining room, laundry, etc. They are usually located near universities and many of them have a library, sports facilities, among others. Events such as excursions, cultural activities, etc. are also usually organized. There are a large number of colleges spread throughout Spain so you will probably find one that suits your needs.
Some of the advantages of this option is its proximity to universities (in most cases) and the possibility of living in an environment with diverse students.
University residences
University residences are aimed at students from certain universities and are usually quite common in Spain. Its location is also usually very close to campuses, colleges and study centres. They usually have excellent public transport communication.
They offer accommodation in addition to other services such as laundry, dining room, cafeteria, cleaning, parking ... depending on the residence. Students on University Campus usually can avail of common study areas and libraries nearby.
Apartments or rooms for rent
You also have the option to rent an apartment or room on special websites or through an educational institution.
The advantage is that you can choose the appropriate accommodation for your budget, the location of the educational institution, etc. The disadvantage may be the distance from the student life after classes.
Other accommodations
Another lodging option is the so-called “solidarity apartments”. Students can stay in homes where they live with the elderly or require some kind of company. Some of the benefits are that they tend to have a very low price, students get to know knowledge of the country's culture and are provided with some company.
