Permanent residence permit for family member of a EU citizen (spouse)
The Permanent residence permit for family member of a EU citizen (spouse) is suitable for nationals of non-EU countries who are married to a EU citizen holding a residence permit in Spain ("Certificado de registro de ciudadano de la UE") and who have been living in Spain under a temprorary residence permit for family members of EU citizens for the last 5 years. This residence is granted for 10 years.
This residence is also applicable if you have already divorced with your partner-citizen of the EU but had maintained the relationship for at least 3 years since obtaining the initial permit, have been living in Spain since then and have duly notified your breakup to the immigration office.
Conditions for service provision:
- Staying legally in Spain with the spouse at the moment of the application`s submission
- Having stayed in Spain for at least 184 days a year in the last 5 years
- Private medical insurance
- Sufficient economic means: an average bank balance of at least €12,000 over the last 12 months, and a confirmed actual balance of the same amount. Please, note that if you are living in the province of Malaga, then the amount is €31,000. It is also possible to demonstrate regular income in case of an employee or self-employed, the anual amount still needs to be the same as mentioned above
